Issues
According to the latest ADEME study (2021), transport noise is the main cause of noise annoyance for the population. In the case of the A480 freeway at the entrance to Grenoble, the noise impact of the road infrastructure would have been significant, as this section is located on the edge of the Grenoble conurbation.

Ecib solution
We installed a 5m-high, double-sided, absorbent noise barrier on the central median separating the two directions of traffic on the A480, at the level of the Catane interchange (no. 3). To meet the requirements of the architect in charge of the project, the first side of the noise barrier was made using our AURIG' attis plantable panels, while the second side was made using our AURIG' optima aluminium noise barrier panels.
Acoustic Optimization
We installed sound-absorbing soundproofing on both sides.
The first side was made of AURIG' attis plantable panels. These panels can be used to integrate climbing plants or vegetation systems, adding an ecological and aesthetic dimension. In addition to transforming walls into visually pleasing features, this vegetation helps combat urban heat islands. Plants help to cool the surrounding air through evapotranspiration, improving thermal comfort in areas close to these installations.
The second side was made of AURIG'optima aluminum panels. The panels were installed, followed by an urban fresco running the length of the screen.
The result: successful urban integration and acoustic performance that lives up to expectations.
