Challenge
According to ADEME's latest study from 2021, transport noise is the primary cause of noise disturbance experienced by the population. As part of the A480 motorway development at the entrance to Grenoble, the road infrastructure's noise impact would have been significant, as this section is located on the edge of the Grenoble urban area.

Écib Solution
We installed a 5-meter high double-sided sound-absorbing noise barrier on the central median separating the two lanes of traffic on the A480, near the Catane interchange (No. 3). To meet the requirements of the project architect, the first side of the noise barrier was constructed using our AURIG’ attis plantable panels, while the second side was built with our AURIG’ optima aluminum noise barrier panels.
Acoustic Optimization
We installed a sound-absorbing noise barrier on both sides.
The first side was constructed using AURIG’ attis plantable panels. These panels are designed to integrate climbing plants or vegetated systems, adding an ecological and aesthetic dimension. In addition to transforming the walls into visually pleasing elements, this vegetation contributes to combating urban heat islands. Plants help cool the surrounding air through evapotranspiration, which improves thermal comfort in areas near these installations.
The second side was constructed using AURIG’optima aluminum panels. The panels were installed, and then an urban fresco was created along the entire length of the screen.
The result: successful urban integration and acoustic performance that met expectations.
