Challenge

Temperature constraints in a hospital are significant; for example, laboratories, waiting rooms, operating theaters, recovery rooms, maternity wards, etc., all have different requirements. For this reason, hospitals are equipped with chiller units installed outside the buildings.

As part of the expansion work for a Parisian hospital, the installation of 4 high-power chiller units required a custom soundproofing solution. Écib was selected to design, manufacture, and install custom acoustic solutions for this project.

Écib Solution

To avoid impacting the urban environment around the hospital, we designed ALTAÏR’ stratis baffle silencers, offering high acoustic performance at low frequencies. The interior lining of the chiller unit room was made using PEGAS’optima acoustic panels. Finally, access to the room was provided with our POLARIS’prima acoustic doors.

All these solutions were validated during the preliminary design phase by the acoustic engineering firm responsible for the project.

Acoustic Optimization

Acoustic and airflow optimization had been carried out by a design office prior to the project.

To adapt to the project's specific design constraints, our 3D equipment models allow for reliable validation of acoustic attenuation performance and system pressure losses.

All our outdoor structures are systematically validated by mechanical calculation notes, ensuring the compliance of our solutions with Eurocodes.
