Acoustic explosion vent: safety and sound attenuation in the event of decompression

Écib designs acoustic explosion events to limit noise propagation during emergency decompressions, while ensuring the safety of installations.

Why install an acoustic explosion vent on your sensitive equipment?

An acoustic explosion vent is a technical device that rapidly releases internal overpressure (due to explosion or degassing) while considerably reducing the sound impact of this decompression.

At Écib, we design and manufacture customized acoustic explosion events, adapted to the safety and acoustic performance requirements of the chemical, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, food and waste processing industries.

These devices include :

  • pressure relief panels calibrated to yield at a defined pressure threshold,

  • one or more high-performance silencers to limit the noise emitted when the shutter is released,

  • an integrated structure that can include sensors, hatches or a resistant enclosure.

The aim is twofold: to protect installations against overpressure, while limiting noise exposure for operators, local residents and nearby equipment. Ecib vents attenuate decompression noise by up to 40 dB, while complying with standards (ATEX, ISO, CE, etc.).

Our teams accompany your projects from the risk audit through to installation and on-site acoustic validation.

Frequently asked questions about acoustic explosion vents

What is the role of an acoustic explosion vent?

It releases excess pressure in the event of an explosion, while attenuating the noise generated.

In what sectors is this type of equipment used?

Chemical and petrochemical industries, waste treatment, food processing, energy storage.

What sound attenuation can be achieved?

Up to 30 to 40 dB depending on design and pressure release.

Does the vent conform to safety standards?

Yes, our models are designed to ATEX, ISO and CE requirements, and can be customized to your specifications.
